Shop of the Week: CustomCreature.etsy.com

About the artist:
Sarina Brewer is an internationally recognized artist working with taxidermy related materials. Specializing in creating fanciful composite beasts, her eccentric taxidermy sculptures reside in prestigious collections around the world, including Oceanopolis in Brest France and the Geneva Museum of Natural History in Switzerland. Her work has been featured in major publications here and abroad, some of the most notable being The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, The New York Press, The Sun, Fortune Small Business, Penthouse, Juxtapoz, FHM, Maxim, Bust, and Bizarre magazine. Although new to Etsy, she began selling her work in 1997 via her website and soon thereafter began offering her work on Ebay where she has now been doing so for over 10 years. With an impeccable track record of buyer satisfaction a large portion of her clientele includes repeat customers who collect her highly sought after pieces. We invite you to peruse the culmination of nearly three decades of the study of art and natural sciences in her unusual works at www.CustomCreatureTaxidermy.com

Feature of features! Url, aka Fish in a Squirrel Suit, takes the interwebs by storm

It all started on dark and stormy night (ok I don't really know the weather on Url's birthday but it sounds good) when SlightlyCurious created Url, aka Fish in a Squirrel Suit.

Here on the Etsy Dark Team we love him, of course, from his glassy round eyes, to his road rash & squirrely toes but not so much everywhere. Our fishy, furry little friend made not one but two appearances on LiveJournal's Ugly Crap Community and recently wriggled up on Regretsy. But this is where even "bad" publicity turns into good publicity! Regretsy alone has brought 1400 9600!! views to SlightlyCurious' Etsy shop plus Url now has his own song, and has a mention on the Wall Street Journal (as the "Fish in a Squirrel Suit"). The friggin' Wall Street Journal! Yeah, I'm jealous ;)

Here is Url's song:

singing to lauren, although she doesn't know it yet. on 12seconds.tv

And here is our beloved Url posing for the camera:

Can you boast 15+ Google search pages for your creation? I'm not joking, search "fish in a squirrel suit" for yourself. I know I wish I could boast that! Url's got my vote to be the Etsy Dark Team's mascot.

Hunting trophies at Sock Horror

Here at the Sock Horror Headquarters we have been perfecting the art of sock taxidermy over several years. We pride ourselves on our ability to inbibe our creatures with life and restore them to their former glory.

Ocasionally the creatures we hunt or find do not remain unscathed; usually as a results of their confinement or capture method. This means that we are not always able to reinstate them as they would be found in nature.

Fortunately, after perfecting the technique, we area ble to offer these creatures mounted on wall plaques as hunting trophies reminiscent of the deer heads you might find in hunting lodges and old country pubs.

The first is available through Etsy and the Specialist cetegory of our website, and more will be added shortly.

I would welcome your thoughts on out new venture.

Stay safe...BEWARE YOUR SOCKS
